One man, three outfits and truckloads of confidence

While the UK Government has generously dished out the bulk of the cash to support Sierra Leone’s Ebola response, there is one man behind the walls of the mighty donor office in Freetown who has held the fort in the style stakes. Simpson cuts through the ‘office attire in the field’ that surrounds him with colour explosions, Africana swag and a self assured cool unrivalled by anyone in the entire British civil service.

Simpy’s wardrobe is no doubt killer, but it’s his unwavering confidence that really elevates him into the realms of a Freetown ‘IT’ man.  “I’m not really into fashion I just know how to make things match and look fabulous. I can make anything work”.  He claims to have a wardrobe the size of Posh Spice with more than 15 pairs of shoes, 10 pairs of jeans and too many Africana garments to count. And while fashion is not a competition, Simpy knows where he ranks, “Who’s the best dressed person in your office Simpson? I don’t even have to think about that, me of course”. Let’s explore Simpy’s best looks.

IMG_6410This two piece Africana is one of the best examples of a men’s matchy matchy I’ve seen. The X factor here is in the tapering at the ankles that creates a narrow silhouette. “I got my tailor to use zippers around the legs, I like the skinny look”.

IMG_6641Not one to let a trend pass him by, Simpson adds flare to a basic pair of skinnies with his own take on the Addis Ababa shirt, this version was custom made by the genius responsible for all these original looks, Simpson’s tailor – Mr Bilor.

Thank God it’s Africana Friday

It’s the best day of the week, and frankly it couldn’t have come around fast enough. Behold these Africana delights as we approach the weekend.

I’m a sucker for a man in a Fez (except Gadaffi, couldn’t stand Gadaffi) so when Daramy joined my taxi queue this morning I was all over him with my camera. D does not hold back with his Africana two piece suit, an ensemble he has had in his wardrobe for several years. And please sit back and marvel at his fake fur Fez.

Fourah Bay College  law student Jacinta and Fashpack regular  stitched this dreamy Africana skirt herself. It’s called a Tafunga skirt and the trick is to retain your modesty when that big split flaps about in the wind by wearing tights underneath.Very sensible Jacinta!
